Un fiancé, la veille de ses noces, passe l'anneau destiné à sa future femme au doigt d'une statue de Vénus, et meurt assassiné dans la chambre nuptiale (La Vénus de l'Ille). Deux amants, échappés à la surveillance du mari pour une nuit de bonheur dans un hôtel, épient les bruits de la chambre voisine, persuadés qu'un meurtre s'y accomplit (Let Chambre bleue).
