A biologist and his son explore what is now the Olympic National Park, ca 1946. Interesting look at the Olympic Peninsula when much of it was still fairly wild. As with most of Meader's books, interesting characters and settings. Now (2019) an accurate look into the past. Considerably more far-fetched plot than Meader's usual.

A book from the World War Two period, about railroading through the mountains of the east during the war, with a Nazi sabotage attempt thwarted by young protagonists. YA classification. The railroad is pretty clearly the Pennsylvania, though it is never named. Emphasis on war-time traffic, including troop trains, trains of military equipment and oil tanker trains, as well as the "normal" passenger and freight traffic. Setting c.1942-44.

Arguably, Stephen Meader was the premier American author of boys' books of the 20th century, at least in terms of titles, and perhaps popularity (not counting the Hardy Boys). This is one of his mystery/adventure books, and provides an interesting look at small town early 20th century USA.
