The Sea-fishing Industry of England and Wales: A Popular Account of the Sea Fisheries and ..
Sunshine and sport in Florida and the West Indies
Written for the English angler, Part I describes the trip from England across the Atlantic through New York, Washington, D.C. (including a meeting with President Roosevelt), North Carolina, and arrival in Florida. Part II explains the practices, customs and equipment related to tarpon fishing, and gives examples of particular fishing episodes. Descriptions follow of other fishing, the hunting of alligators, and end with miscellaneous notes on the fauna of Florida. Part III briefly describes the continuation of the author's voyage, making stops at Cuba, Jamaica, the Panama Canal construction, the coasts of Colombia and Venezuela, Trinidad and Bridgetown.
Sea-fish; an account of the methods of angling as practised on the English coast
Birds in the calendar
Delightful sketches of British wild birds – a bird for every month of the year from the pheasant in January to the robin in December. This collection of articles, reprinted in book form from the periodical The Outlook, is full of fascinating information about bird behaviour and habitat, as well as many interesting anecdotes. Out of date in some respects, particularly in its reference to the (now illegal) collecting of birds’ eggs, this book brings home forcefully how the populations of some British wild birds have declined since it was written.
Behind the ranges
A biologist and his son explore what is now the Olympic National Park, ca 1946. Interesting look at the Olympic Peninsula when much of it was still fairly wild. As with most of Meader's books, interesting characters and settings. Now (2019) an accurate look into the past. Considerably more far-fetched plot than Meader's usual.
