Stepping out of his Amsterdam studio one April afternoon to buy cigarettes for his girlfriend, a dashing 29-year old Englishman reflects on their wonderful seven-year relationship, and his stellar career as an internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer. But the nameless protagonist's destiny takes an unthinkably horrifying turn when a trio of mysterious cloaked and hooded women kidnap him, chain him to the floor of a stark white room to keep as their sexual prisoner, and subjected him to eighteen days of humiliation, mutilation, and rape. Then, after a bizarrely public performance, he is released, only to be held captive in the purgatory of his own guilt and torment: The realization that no one will believe his strange story.

An Interpretation of the English Bible is an unusual and rare blend of paraphrased portions of Scripture, concise and readable introductions, word studies, character studies, model sermons, pertinent illustrations, brief expositions, and much more. Studying and using this respected work, now in six large volumes, is like sitting in the classroom of a master teacher. B. H. Carroll was widely recognized for his teaching ability and his respect for the inspired Word. He felt that the Bible should speak for itself. He always allowed the Bible to mean what it intended, to be its own interpreter by comparisons of all its parts. An Interpretation of the English Bible is much more than a multi-volume commentary. Although these volumes are the fruit of many years of teaching, they are void of the scholastic, ivory tower language of many other theological works. B. H. Carroll always appreciated the practical, down-to-earth application of the Word, one of the traits that made him so popular as a teacher. The minister who recognizes that preaching involves teaching will find this set to be genuinely helpful in the preparation of sermons that emphasize the teaching aspect of the ministry. Teachers and laymen alike will value the scope and depth of the set in their study of the Scripture. Here is a deep well of knowledge from which anyone will draw frequently. B. H. Carroll was a widely known evangelist, preacher, and teacher in Texas. He was one of the founders and early presidents of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. - Back cover.

This is a comprehensive survey of the New Testament book of Romans. Dr. B. H. Carroll was the founder of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, TX. An Interpretation of the English Bible is a 17 volume commentary on the entire 66 books of the Bible. It is the product of his lectures on the English Bible. It is organized in bite size chapters of about 10 pages each with a series of study questions at the end of each chapter. It is written in a easy to understand style, but full of pregnant thought. It is truly profundity clothed in simplicity. Dr. Carroll was a voracious reader, debater, historian, theologian and preacher. He masterfully blends the parallel lines of secular and sacred history as he paints and explains the biblical narrative. It is a set worth owning. In addition to print copies, Ages Library has published a PDF, searchable version, at a modest price.
