John Steinbeck

John Steinbeck was an American writer. He wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Grapes of Wrath (1939) and the novella Of Mice and Men (1937). He wrote a total of 27 books, including 16 novels, six non-fiction books, and five collections of short stories. In 1962, Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize for Literature .

Description

In the shabby district called Tortilla Flat above Monterey, California lives a gang whose exploits compare to those of King Arthur's knights. When Danny returns to Tortilla Flat after World War I, he moves into a house left to him by his grandfather. One by one, various people are drawn to Danny's house, lured by Danny's generosity and the camaraderie that springs up around him.
