The stranger was dark and slim, and had a dreamy quality about him. He rode into Dry Crossing on Smith River and bought his provisions. Now there was something he needed to know, so he stopped at the tavern. In no time at all, he had been provoked to draw his gun - and it was lightning-quick. He was "The Spectacular Kid," and according to rumours that drifted through the hills, he'd been raised by a notorious outlaw - a killer. Throughout the high hills and surrounding countryside, he was branded a dangerous gunman. And as he remembered the circumstances that earned him that reputation, his face became grim.
