About Author

Ludwig Feuerbach

Ludwig is a German name, deriving from Old High German Hludwīg, also spelled Hluotwīg. Etymologically, the name can be traced back to the reconstructed Proto-Germanic name hlūdawiganaz, which is composed of two elements: hlūdaz ("loud, famous") and *wiganą ("to battle, to fight") respectively, the resulting name meaning "famous warrior" or "famous in battle". This is an equivalent of the name Louis. The name is pronounced in German as LOOT-vig, with the second syllable pronounced as /v/ rather than English /w/.

Description

"Ludwig Feuerbach has stood in the shadow of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels for the past one-hundred and fifty years. This volume in The German Library redresses this situation by including some of the most influential and trenchant writings of all three socialist philosophers, together, in one volume"--Publisher's description.
