Caroline Bruce Cooney was born in Geneva, New York and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. She became interested in writing while still in grade school, and began publishing her stories when her children were young. She has published more than 75 suspense, mystery, and romance novels for teenagers. She currently resides in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Description

In this story based on the Shakespeare play, "Macbeth," and set in eleventh-century Scotland, Lady Mary, the fourteen-year-old ward of Lord and Lady Macbeth, is sent to live with Lady Macbeth to learn the ways of nobility, but after Mary's father is hanged as a traitor, her fate is in the hands of her ruthlessly ambitious guardians.
