A graphic novel in which Pikachu and Ash encounter many adventures on the way to the Pokemon League Competition, involving a seed Pokemon guardian spirit, strange Clefairy appearances, a Gloom trainer mixed up in a Team Rocket scheme, and rivalry with Ash's new friend Richie.

Ash Ketchum wants to be the greatest Pokémon master and decides to train Pikachu to be his first Pokémon partner. Excitement abounds when Pikachu gets separated from Ash. Charmander, Squirtle and Kangaskhan are called upon to help defeat Team Rocket and return Pikachu to Ash.

Pokemon are cute monsters that special children learn how to capture and tame. They are used in battles and mock-battles between the children. This is one of many titles in the various Pokemon series.
