Educated: Lurgan, St Patrick's College, Armagh, Queen's University of Belfast. Held a number of hospital posts, including research medical officer in Guy's Hospital, London (1961-1964). . Senior Lecturer in Social and Preventive in Queen's University from 1968-1988. Head of the Department of Community Medicine at Queen's before took early retirement.
