Der deutsche lausbub in Amerika
A detailed description of impressions gained by a young German man (born 1876) during a 7-year stay (1894 to 1901) in the U.S. Sent to America by his family as a ne'er-do-well, he survived working odd jobs in rural Texas and on railroads, St.Louis/ San Francisco/ New York (as beginning Newspaper Reporter), participating (1898/Cuba) in the Spanish-American War as an enlisted man (Part Two of 2). Vivid, florid, romantic-sentimental reporting, especially of months of "riding the rails" all over the Country with two companions. A wonderful view of the 1890's U.S.A. by a young German - begging for Translation into English... N.B.: A restless soul, the same author later even joined the French Foreign Legion, but managed to escape..(and wrote a book about it). He published under the pen name of: Erwin ROSEN and died in 1923 in Hamburg, Germany .
