Ernst Benz zeigt auf, daß Lafargues Forderung vom „Recht auf Faulheit“ in der Tradition der religiös-endzeitlichen und der utopischen Vorstellungen von einem arbeitsfreien Wohlleben steht: Er hat hat ihr eine Wendung ins Politisch-Polemische und Klassenkämpferische gegeben und setzte sich damit in den Gegensatz zum offiziellen Marxismus.
