Description
A. T. Thomson F.L.S., was a physician, a surgeon, a medical botanist, translator, author, and a professor at University College Hospital London. He was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and of the Medico-Chirurgical Society of London; a Fellow of the Medical Society, of the Royal Physical Society, and the Speculative Society of Edinburgh; a member of the Societe de medecine de Marseilles, and of the Societe medicale d'emulation de Paris. Born in Edinburgh and raised in colonial Savanah, he settled in London to work and teach. His wife, Katherine Byerley Thomson, was also a writer of note both as Mrs A. T.
