--- The poet Akol Meyan Kuol was born in 1974 in the oil-rich region of Abyei, Southern Sudan. He was taken to Khartoum in the North in 1978 due to the political instability in the area which is still continuing up to the present time. He did his studies in the North and deserted the country in 1993.
