Y: THE LAST MAN, winner of three Eisner Awards and one of the most critically acclaimed, best-selling comic books series of the last decade, is that rare example of a page-turner that is at once humorous, socially relevant and endlessly surprising. Written by Brian K. Vaughan (LOST, PRIDE OF BAGHDAD, EX MACHINA) and with art by Pia Guerra, this is the saga of Yorick Brown—the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome. Accompanied by a mysterious government agent, a brilliant young geneticist and his pet monkey, Ampersand, Yorick travels the world in search of his lost love and the answer to why he's the last man on earth.

As the Last Man on Earth and his companions continue to head West, the story takes a detour into the psychological. In the care of a fellow Culper Ring member, Yorick Brown is forced to confront his tremendous feelings of survivor guilt that lead him to constantly put his life in danger. Once on the road again, the group runs up against a literal roadblock in Arizona, where the female remains of the Sons of Arizona militia have cut the interstate to keep out any vestiges of the U.S. government.

More than two years after the unexplained plague killed every other male mammal on the planet, the two exceptions - aspiring escape artist Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand - have traveled across the remains of the U.S. with biochemist Dr. Allison Mann and goverment operative Agent 355 to Dr. Mann's lab in San Francisco, where she managed to finally isolate the source of their immunity. Unfortunately, that source is within Ampersand's body, which was last seen disappearing under the arm of a mysterious Japanese mercenary. Now, accompanied by 355 and Dr. Mann, the last man on Earth has embarked on a new and even more hazardous journey - following Ampersand's trail across the Pacific, where danger threatens from below as well as above the waves.

The saga of Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth, continues in PAPER DOLLS. In addition to catching up on the adventures of Yorick's monkey Ampersand (whose body holds the key to stopping the male-killing plague) and telling the origin of Agent 355, PAPER DOLLS chronicles Yorick and 355's search for Yorick's fiancee Beth in Australia -- a search that yields a large dose of unwanted publicity for the Last Man, and deadly consequences for those he cares for!

Nearly four years after a global plague killed every male mammal on Earth, the two exceptions -- Yorick Brown and his monkey Ampersand -- now find themselves in Japan. Following Ampersand's abduction by a sword-wielding mercenary, Yorick and his companions (government operative 355 and biochemist Dr. Allison Mann) have tracked him to the Land of the Rising Sun, where the culture has adapted to the loss of its men in some uniquely Japanese ways. To retrieve his pet -- whose body may hold the key to humanity's survival -- Yorick and 355 must travel to Tokyo and navigate a tricky maze of Yakuza remnants, little-girl gangsters and pop star entitlement gone mad. At the same time, Dr. Mann and her new girlfriend head to her mother's home for a chilly family reunion. Their reception is even more hostile than expected, but it also results in a startling revelation -- one which could point the way towards solving the final, overriding mystery of what -- or who -- caused the Gendercide. -- Back Cover

Finally reunited, the last two males on Earth -- Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand -- are on a slow boat to China, heading for a long-anticipated reunion with Yorick's lost fiancee in Paris. But while the pair are getting ready to cross two more continents with their longtime protector Agent 355, their other traveling companions -- biochemist Dr. Allison Mann and her girlfriend Rose -- are nearing the end of a different quest: finding out what caused the plague that wiped out every other mammal with a Y chromosome fours before. What they find, in a hidden lab in Hong Kong, is something that none of them expected -- something that could mean the end not just for the Last Man, but for any future his gender might have. -- Back Cover
