Great geological controversies
This second edition of the author's account of celebrated controversies in geology embraces many of the important ideas that have emerged since the birth of the subject. The two new chapters are on the emergence of stratigraphy in the 19th century and on the mass extinctions controversy.
An introduction to the kinetic theory of gases and magnetoplasmas
"The aim of this book is to give a physical treatment of the kinetic theory of gases and magnetoplasmas, covering the standard material in as simple a way as possible, using mean-free-path arguments when possible and identifying problem areas where received theory has either failed or has fallen short of expectations. Examples of problem areas are provided by strong shock waves, ultrasonic waves (high Knudsen numbers), and transport across strong magnetic fields."--Back cover.
The natural philosophy of time
The author published a series of science divulgative books about the study and significance of time as a physical magnitude and an historical review of the concepts of Time in diferents civilizations and in different epoques. Perhaps this precise book is the most specific and "technical" of all. It keep a far resemblance with the intention of SIr Isaac Newton who published the mathematical principles of natural philosophy but made a resumee for the non mathematical readers. THis is just the opposite case. See other titles by the same author "The nature of time" and "Time in History"
