True worship
John 4:20-24 is going to be the touchstone for our study of worship. We'll be coming back to it intermittently throughout this series, and then we'll look at it in more depth. I believe John 4:20-24 is the most significant New Testament passage on the subject of worship -- so we must understand its truths. Our text is a conversation between the woman of Samaria and our Lord Jesus Christ. The word "worship" appears eight times in this passage. Therefore, it is essential that we understand what our Lord is saying here. Most people go to church for what they can get. Some people just check out the church page in their newspaper to see who's playing where on a given Sunday, and go for what will appeal to them, or "bless" them. Well, if you go to church for what you can get out of the music, or what you can get out of the sermon, or just to get blessed, you've missed the point. The music and the sermon aren't ends in themselves, they are but stimuli to cause you to worship God. And if you have any thought less than that, you've missed the point! - Introduction.
God's High Calling for Women
The subject of women in the church is both important and controversial—John MacArthur is not afraid of either. In this revised work, MacArthur examines what the Bible teaches in I Timothy 2:9-15. He discusses topics ranging from the attitude and appearance of women to their role in and contribution to the church.
The Believer's Armor
The essence of John MacArthur, Jr.'s worldwide ministry is his preaching and teaching of God's Word through verse-by-verse exposition. Each radio or tape message reaches thousands with the practical, applied Word of God. John MacArthur's Bible studies consist of the study notes from Dr. MacArthur's messages and tapes. Each book in the series coincides with radio and tape messages and is an in-depth look at a particular topic. The apostle Paul says that if you are a Christian and are living as a believer should, you'll run head on into the enemy. So Paul concludes Ephesians with an impressive list of armor to protect us in the battle against Satan. Study Ephesians 6:10-24 in The Believer's Armor for a detailed description of every piece of that armor. - Back cover.
Assurance of victory
John MacArthur's Bible Studies consist of the study notes from Dr. MacArthur's messages and tapes. Each book in the series coincides with radio and tape messages and is an in-depth look at a particular topic. The Christian's victory is an assured one, assured by both external and internal witnesses. First John 5 offers the believer five things he can be certain of: (1) eternal life, (2) God answers prayer, (3) we have victory over sin and Satan, (4) each of us belongs to God, and (5) Jesus Christ is the true God. - Back cover.
