Beyond Boundaries
The core of Christianity
Bestselling author Neil Anderson (more than 2.5 million books sold) has a passion for the church and a desire to encourage each Christian's personal journey closer to the heart of Jesus and His will. In his new book, Anderson addresses four tendencies that mislead Christians. He offers clear, biblical paths readers can follow to overcome: Legalism -- by growing in knowledge of God's truth and practicing grace; Liberalism -- by respecting authority of Scripture and refuting humanistic deception; Spiritism -- by using spiritual discernment and resisting popular New Age beliefs and practices; False prophets -- by relying on the Holy Spirit and not mistaking giftedness for divine authority. Anderson offers wisdom and direction to bring certainty and focus to a believer's life. Readers will learn to avoid the pitfalls of worldly teachings as they study key verses, find balance between extremes, follow God's will, and embrace examples of Christ–centered living. - Publisher.

God's Guest List
In common with many other Type A personalities, the internationally renowned author of more than 100 novels, Debbie Macomber, who has more than 100 million books currently in print, is an inveterate list maker. In the past, she confesses, she drew up a list of all those people whom she had long admired and whom she wished to meet. However, by trial and error she came to realize that the guest list that she had drawn up for herself was much inferior to that which God had for her life. Now Macomber also invites us to keep ourselves open to all those people whom we encounter along the way who unexpectedly bring us closer to Him in our daily path. She assures us that if we anticipate that each one of those whom we meet might be a person whom God has sent into our lives to teach us more about how best we can serve Him, we open ourselves up to a world of possibility. For our lives to be fulfilling, we need to examine each aspect of our existence with a God focus. According to Macomber, “[t]he key to accomplishing any discipline in life, whether it is setting goals, losing weight, changing behavior, or discovering God’s guest list, is to be intentional, to be aware, and to be able to chart our findings.” She, therefore, encourages us to journal God’s guest list, even if it is merely recording the names of those whom we meet who really bring the presence of God on Earth into our lives. Though we might not be as gifted with the ability to write as Macomber undoubtedly is, we, too, all have our own gifts to present to the world. The spirit of being able to receive gracefully, as well as to give plenteously, is what the Christian life is all about. Each of the fifteen chapters of God’s Guest List: Welcoming Those Who Influence Our Lives starts with a Bible verse that focuses on the central concern of that section of the text. Macomber then explores her own experiences, as well as those of others, related to the issue at stake, ending with a few lines on what we can take from the encounter. The author’s writing is fluent, warm and highly accessible. Although she is very much Christ-focused, Macomber’s approach is so welcoming and gentle that I would not hesitate to recommend this book, even to those who are, as yet, still rather uncertain about their faith. Not only is God’s Guest List truly a work worth investing in, but most likely, if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading Macomber’s other works, don’t be surprised if you feel the call to read others of her works once you have finished this—I know I have.

If God is good
Every one of us will experience suffering. Many of us are experiencing it now. As we have seen in recent years, evil is real in our world, present and close to each one of us. In such difficult times, suffering and evil beg questions about God--Why would an all-good and all-powerful God create a world full of evil and suffering? And then, how can there be a God if suffering and evil exist? These are ancient questions, but also modern ones as well. Atheists such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and even former believers like Bart Ehrman answer the question simply: The existence of suffering and evil proves there is no God. In this captivating new book, best-selling author Randy Alcorn challenges the logic of disbelief, and brings a fresh, realistic, and thoroughly biblical insight to the issues these important questions raise. Alcorn offers insights from his conversations with men and women whose lives have been torn apart by suffering, and yet whose faith in God burns brighter than ever. He reveals the big picture of who God is and what God is doing in the world--now and forever. And he equips you to share your faith more clearly and genuinely in this world of pain and fear. As he did in his best-selling book, Heaven, Randy Alcorn delves deep into a profound subject, and through compelling stories, provocative questions and answers, and keen biblical understanding, he brings assurance and hope to all.
One simple act
Debbie Macomber knows the secret to doing exactly that! In a world that seems too often stingy and grudging, she has witnessed how one simple act of generosity can yield unforeseen miracles. You are about to discover, through true stories, what happens when we commit intentional acts of generosity. Lives are changed in ways we never envisioned. Come with Debbie late one evening through the checkout line at the grocery store. Visit a midwestern train station. Discover the link between a submarine, a few bread crumbs, and some minnows. Visit ancient Galilee as a young boy volunteers his fishes and loaves to Jesus only to see his meager gift multiplied many times over to feed five thousand. Listen in on a touching phone call with an elderly widow. You will stand amazed at what God accomplishes when we make ourselves available through simple acts of generosity. This blend of true stories and motivating messages will delight and surprise you as you discover how giving the gifts of time, encouragement, hope, laughter, prayer, hospitality, service, and even forgiveness can have lasting, life-changing impact, not only on the recipient of such gifts but on the giver as well. Debbie Macomber, through the power of story, invites us to live with open hands, offering who we are and what we have to God, to use in the lives of others. When we do so, lives--including our own--are changed in ways we couldn't have imagined. All it takes is one simple act.
