About Author

Jack Batten

Jack Batten was born in Montreal, Quebec. He graduated from the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School and practised law from 1959 to 1963, when he left law to become a full-time magazine writer. He has worked for Maclean’s Magazine and the Star Weekly, and written for other magazines including Chatelaine, Rolling Stone, and Toronto Life. He has written radio plays for the CBC and a jazz column for The Globe and Mail. He has written over thirty books on subjects that include biography, crime fiction, law and court cases, and sports. His biography of Tom Longboat won the Norma Fleck Award for best children's nonfiction in 2002. Currently, he writes books and reviews crime novels for The Sunday Star.
