An historical novel set during the aftermath of the French Revolution, before Napoleon became Emperor, but was a General, collecting Italian duchys for France. A French aristocrat, on a secret mission for the English, ends up as a double agent against the French but for Venice. Spy versus spy versus spy. Full of intrigue and romance, this novel uses the political situation in Venice, in Italy and France, as a backdrop for love and treachery. Ten stars from me!
