Description
George Godwin, architect and editor of the influential journal The Builder from 1844 to 1883, was a constant campaigner for better housing for the working classes of Britain. Town Swamps and Social Bridges, the second of three books that Godwin published on the slums of London, describes conditions in the overcrowded and underserved homes of the London poor, and suggests ways in which they could be improved.
