For fifty years Joe Pendleton had worked at the Factory. His wife Mary Knew how much the job meant to him and that nothing would make him leave before this proper retirement age. But she also knew that if he didn't Joe Pendleton would not have much longer to live. That was why she had gone to Sir Matthew Bartlett and begged him to give Joe tha sack.
