Katherine Alice Applegate is an American writer, best known as the author of the Animorphs, Remnants, Everworld and other book series. She won the 2013 Newbery Medal for her children's novel The One and Only Ivan. Applegate's most popular books are science fiction, fantasy, and adventure novels. Description

Having spent 27 years behind the glass walls of his enclosure in a shopping mall, Ivan has grown accustomed to humans watching him. He hardly ever thinks about his life in the jungle. Instead, Ivan occupies himself with television, his friends Stella and Bob, and painting.
