Rival to Josephine Baker and inspiration to Edith Piaf, Mistinguett- born Jean Boureois in the French village of Enghien in 1875 -was the original torch singer, the sultry chanteuse whose throbbing signature song "My Man" would later be immortalized by Fanny Brice and the movie 'Funny Girl.'
