Description
In 1800 Constance goes to spend the winter in Vermont with Sarah, her aunt's old housekeeper. Sarah's grandson Peter joins them there. That winter is a happy and busy one for Constance as she learns to cook, tend fires, and care for animals in the harsh Vermont winter. She attends school with the other children where she even meets Ethan Allen.
