Description
Barbara and Molly Bronson move with their mother from New York to rural Pleasant Hill, where they board with Dr. Curtis, his granddaughter Ruth, and their servant Wang. When Wang is called home to China, he leaves Ruth with a riddle, and she and the sisters must immerse themselves in the history and literature of China to unravel it.
