Joanna Bowling was a country girl at heart, and when she went out to Australia she knew she was going to love her new job as home-help on a large station in Raintree Valley in the tropical north, however remote the place might be. But she didn't, alas, look at all like a country girl, and the moment the tough Boss, Adam Corraine, set eyes on her he declared that she wouldn't do for the job; she would be better working in some smart boutique in the big city - and he gave her just two weeks in which to prove herself or get out.
