About Author

Noël Coward

Sir Noël Peirce Coward (16 December 1899 – 26 March 1973) was an English playwright, composer, director, actor, and singer, known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time called "a sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise". Coward attended a dance academy in London as a child, making his professional stage début at the age of eleven. As a teenager he was introduced into the high society in which most of his plays would be set. Coward achieved enduring success as a playwright, publishing more than 50 plays from his teens onwards. Many of his works, such as Hay Fever, Private Lives, Design for Living, Present Laughter, and Blithe Spirit, have remained in the regular theatre repertoire.

Description

When John heard Sam shrieking for help from his pigpen, where she'd gotten herself stuck, he did the honorable thing and rescued her - but touching Sam spelled trouble! With her veil of silken hair smelling of sunshine and wildflowers, Sam was a breath of fresh air, a blithe spirit invading his house, his privacy, and his troubled mind. A man whose brilliant singing career had left him feeling used and drained, John had retired - returning to the country place he loved to search for the dreams he'd somehow lost. Now Sam had filled his haven with laughter and provoked him outrageously, enticing him to kiss her, in the hay in the barn, by the tranquil river, in the shimmering glow of a late sunset...and he was powerless to deny her, or his own deep need. But Sam had secrets, too - and hurts that no one could share, not even the man whose music echoed in her heart and filled her soul. Would soothing John's pain with endless love heal the woman he'd sing to forever?
