Description
Philip Lacy, returning to England after many years abroad, is travelling to London on the boat-train from Plymouth, and notices that a girl, seated opposite him, is very frightened. When returning to the compartment after only a few moments' absence he finds her dead, murdered. Later, Sir Julius Rutter receives a mysterious threat of robbery, signed "The Black," and when the robbery takes place and Scotland Yard is called in, a link is found between the two events.
