New Friends in a New Land: A Thanksgiving Story describes the Pilgrims’ first year in Plymouth, Massachusetts and the first Thanksgiving. Damaris, a young Pilgrim girl newly arrived from England on the Mayflower, is a little afraid of her new Plymouth home. Gradually, she and the others in her group become friends with their Native American neighbors and celebrate a thanksgiving feast together.
