Lionel Cramer, Earl of Blaize, is in a terrible state. He has just inherited a huge, disorganized library and hasn't a clue as how to put in order. When he decides to hire his old school chum Dracot as his librarian, the ever resourceful earl is sure he's solved the problem...until the very lovely Diana Gardiner arrives in Dracot's stead. As sensible as she is pretty, Diana means no ruse. Poor Dracot had been her fiance until he was reported killed at Waterloo. Now, the lady is in desperate need of employment and sets out to prove her worth, despite the lord's ill-tempered repute.
