Lyra Haughton, an Archdeacon's daughter seemed to be in an eternal dilemma. Her father seemed to her to be ridiculously strict, and incapable of seeing her as anything other than a wayward child - which she most certainly was not. It seemed that her long-time boyfriend, attorney James Mallard, couldnt see the real Lyra either, and wasn't prepared to commit himself to marriage. Handsome young playboy Mike O'Donnell was prepared to give Lyra a chance - but deep inside Lyra knew that her own feelings were still being disregarded.
