Description
The authors describe people's preoccupations at different stages of the life cycle, and look at holidays, hobbies, and institutionalised leisure, in terms of the contemporary changes in society. While not denying the need for large-scale societal support for many leisure and recreational programmes, they are particularly concerned with the hazards of the rapid institutionalisation of leisure, and suggest ways in which leisure providers can bridge the gap between their emerging institutions and the people for whom they are built.
