Description

An adventure filled with ingenuity and perserverance begins when 16-year-old Tom Wade leaves England, orphaned and facing a questionable future, in search of his Uncle Harry in America. The story follows Tom as he travels West to find his uncle with a band of comrades in Colorado's Rocky Mountain wilderness questing a gold mine. They are all pursued across the Bad Lands by Indians, overcome by a snowstorm in the mountains, and run down the unexplored Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Tom proves his courage, builds lasting friendships, and realizes his goal of returning home to offer his sisters a life they never imagined.
