"There was a small town called Dunmow in Essex, England, where any married couple, upon their arrival there, was offered a large flitch of bacon if they would kneel on the two rocks at the entrance to the local church and take an oath to the effect that, for twelve full months since their wedding, they had not had a single quarrel between them, nor had they regretted their marriage."
