"And I burned with shame"

This book offers testimony by the librarian and Holcaust rescuer, Ona Simaite. In a letter written to the revolutionary Isaac Nachman Steinberg (offered here in English translation with notes and introduction by Julija Sukys) Simaite describes what she saw and did in the Vilna Ghetto, and how she helped its prisoners before her 1944 arrest and deportation to Dachau.
