An amateur peasant girl

"Amateur Peasant Girl" by Alexander Pushkin tells the story of deception-GONE RIGHT. Contrary to other Russian short stories where characters deceive each other by pretending to be someone for selfish gain, the heroine uses deception to her advantage. In a setting where aristocrats like to hold grudges...and all communication is cut off, two Russian youth embark on an attempt to find love despite antagonism. Betsy (also known as Liza) chooses to find out what Alexei Berestoff is really like which proves to be a trial as their fathers hold an aristocratic grudge towards one another. It's a typical conflict: a competition to have more prestige, different ideas of decor, etc. Betsy embarks on a quest disguised as the peasant girl Akoulina...and from there it's history.
