Action at Arcanum

At their Bar-V C ranch in Arizona, Vance Callister and his wife Anne are found dead. The evidence indicates a murder-suicide and there is excited speculation in Arcanum City. The problem is: Who died firs? If it was Vance, his daughter is disinherited; if Anne died first, her brother and sister lose. Gregory Quist, the famous detective, investigates, to the accompaniment of more shootings and mysterious goings-on, and at last brings the case to its complicated and bloody conclusion.
