Zach was a Highschool student when he and his friend J. Douglas Arnold, began to publish a fan-news magazine called the "Amiga Games Guide" which was a bi-monthly magazine. Shortly afterward his friend Arnold began to publish series of video game guides, under the series name "Gaming Mastery Series". Along with writing these books he also wrote books for Prima Publishing who where also introducing a series of gaming books. He later wrote weekly columns and reviews for many video game magazines. He later began working with 'Working Designs' and later Atlus USA. For a time he used the name "Freelance Weasel Inc.", as a busness name and also had his own website blog.

Sega Genesis Secrets
This is a walkthrough, hints, tips, and strategy guide book for the "Sega Genesis" video game system, it features 18 in depth walkthroughs, and tips for 4 other games. At the begining of the book, the author introduces the video game system, and in the last chapter, he describes various ways parents can handle video games, and interact with their children. There are grey scale screenshots and the occational composite maps. The book was originally sold at $9.95.

Vanguard Bandits
This is a hints, tips, strategy, and walkthrough guide for the PlayStation video game "Vanguard Bandits". It opens with a look at each of the main character in the story and how they interconnect through out the story. Then it looks at the robotic suits that the characters use. Next comes a look at the weapons, items, skills, attacks each character can use, and statistics for comparing the information. A review and explanation of the games 'Interview and Morale' system works. There is then a look at how the story branches off into three separate main paths and various other smaller paths, and finally overall "Battle Strategies" tips. The next part of the book is a mission by mission walkthrough of all 56 missions of the game, Each having sections for the "Enemies", "Events", and "Encounters" of that mission along with "Strategy & Tactics" which is followed by "The Plot Thickens", a retelling of that part of the story. After this main part of the book there is the unlockable secrets, two pages of art work for the game, two pages of stickers with 26 stickers, and a mail in free poster offer, (which requires the reader to send $4 for shipping and handling), for a 26 and a half inch by 36 inch poster. The book has many color screenshots, a few examples of art work, and also has three ribbon bookmarks bound into the spine. The book has two different ISBN numbers on the book, on the title page it is listed as ISBN: 0966299329, and on the back cover it is listed as ISBN: 0966299327. The book originally sold for $14.95. The books author isn't mentioned on the title page or anywhere in the book, except on the back flap of the dust jacket, with a brief bibliography and picture.

Awesome Super Nintendo Secrets 3
This is a strategy, hints, tips, and cheats book, of Super Nintendo Entertainment System {SNES} games. Its first section has walkthroughs for 17 games, the second section has tips, cheats, and passwords for 35 games. There are many gray-scale screenshots for the first section of the book. Cover Art is by Richard Fields. The book originally cost $11.95.
