The Survivor
"Tony Blair has it all: power, success, flair, an adoring family and a face for every occasion. Admired in the US, grudgingly respected in the EU, this self-styled saviour of the world bounces back from any crisis, slur or scandal with an unfazed shrug even his enemies can only admire. Having single-handedly rebranded the Labour Party, he took Britain into an arguably illegal war in Iraq, provoking hostility both at home and abroad, and saw his own name become synonymous with 'liar' - yet he cruised through another general election to win a historic third term in office. Is it skill, cunning or just sheer luck that has since seen him bag the Olympics for London, stamp his mark on the latest G8 meeting and steady the country after the 2005 London bombings?"--Jacket.
The haunted hound
This is a story of boyhood in the countryside of the South. For the person that wants to recall their childhood experiences of adventures in the woods. There are many sub-plots of adventure mixed with relationships of a young boy with his grieving father, a foxhound that will only show loyalty to him and a young girl of his age who has the same love of the outdoors. The illustrations are by a now somewhat famous illustrator who has a museum of his works that is active. Editor's note: The copy held by Open Library is missing two of the most significant pages in the book, 268 and 269. This is true in both the PDF as well as the E-Pub version. But there's enough information surrounding the missing pages to be able to fill in the blanks. A highly recommended read!

Secret sea
"A dying Cuban, terrified by a nameless, sinister 'tall one,' leaves naval officer Pete Martin a clue to a sunken Spanish treasure ship. With only a brash waterfront urchin as crew, Pete sets sail in his old schooner, pursued by The Tall One in a radar-equipped yacht. Outwitting the enemy in a storm, they find the prize guarded by a monster octopus, and the menacing black yacht again on their tail." -- from Scholastic Book Services paperback edition, 1968

No man's land
A compelling standalone dark fantasy set in a gritty post-WWI Britain which has been overrun by the fae, from the award-winning author of Altered Carbon. The Great War was supposed to be the war to end all wars—and maybe it would have been, had an even greater, otherworldly foe not arisen to extinguish the conflict. Overnight, as guns blazed away in France and Flanders, village after village in the quiet British countryside were swallowed by the Forest. And within the Forest lurk the Huldu—an ancient fae race, monstrous in their inhumanity, who have decided that mankind’s ascendency over the world can endure no longer. Enter Duncan Silver. Scarred by the war, fueled by a rage deeper than the trenches in which he once fought, Duncan is determined to show the Huldu that the world is not theirs for the taking. Armed with a cut-down trench gun filled with iron shot and a deadly iron knife, Duncan will stop at nothing to return the children the Huldu have stolen from the arms of their families. No matter how many Huldu he may have to slaughter along the way. But when he is hired by a mother to return her four-year-old daughter, Miriam—taken by the Huldu six months past and replaced with a Changeling—all hell breaks loose. Miriam is a pawn in a much bigger game for dominance than Duncan ever expected, and several long-buried secrets from his past are about to be violently resurrected.
