Michael J. Rogers (born June 2, 1963) is an American law enforcement officer and politician who served from 2001 to 2015 as the U.S. representative for Michigan's 8th congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, he chaired the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from 2011 to 2015. After retiring from the U.S. House, CNN hired Rogers as a national security commentator. He was also executive producer of the CNN program Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies. Rogers was the Republican nominee in the 2024 United States Senate election in Michigan and narrowly lost to Democratic nominee Elissa Slotkin.

The American economy, already expanding rapidly before the Civil War, continued growing with almost explosive force during the following decades.
