The runaway
"Scooter, Maryellen's pudgy pet dachshund, may be lazy, but he's one of the family, and Maryellen loves him dearly. And he never misses a meal! So when Scooter doesn't show up at dinnertime, she's worried. Maryellen launches a search and discovers some strange goings-on in her neighborhood. With the help of her friends and family, the search for Scooter takes Maryellen from the streets of Daytona Beach to the rocket launchpad at Cape Canaveral!"--Publisher.
Double action
Not a whole lotta talkin' goin' on. On account the two up top - driver and guard of the Central Western Stageline's Concord coach - were the strong silent type. On account the younger woman inside was in deep mourning for her late lamented husband, the young man was of the Eastern and inscrutable persuasion, and the older woman believed in keeping herself to herself. Even if that was kinda difficult with the bucking, jolting Stage throwing them all together. And the six Ute braves, war painted and feathered, who ambushed them didn't have polite conversation in mind either. Just killing. Two others who'd never been great on idle chatter: Edge and Adam Steele. Who just happened to be riding within hearing distance of the gunshots and the screaming and knew that the time had come for some actions that spoke louder than words.
The Godforsaken
From the back: "On Saturday, the fun-loving citizens of Prospect, texas, salughtered a band of drifters - Indians - who were just passing through their quiet little whistle-stop. On Sunday, the god-fearing citizens of Prospect, Texas, received the blessing of Austin Henry Loring - Reverend - who preached hellfire and damnation to this town without pity. On Monday, the man called Edge rode into Prospect. Before he could wash the acrid trail dust from his throat, the trigger-happy town was on his back. This is the forty-sixth in a series of the most brutal Western stories in print. Edge is a new kind of hero, and there is no one to compare with him. Read his first forty-five adventures... if you're strong enough to take another EDGE!"
Lynch Town
Sheriff Jim Conner captured a gangling horsethief who turned out to be the nephew of the man he'd stolen the horses from, and if this didn't cause Jim Conner enough discomfort, when the lad was sentenced to be hanged, Sheriff Conner felt worse. He found the rich rancher from whom the lad had stolen the horses was a notorious gambler and forger from Wyoming and had aquired all his wealth by cheating his nephew--the young horsethief. From then on, Sheriff Jim Conner did everything he could to prevent the hanging from taking place.
