SUPPOSE, in the next place, that the person, who found the watch, should, after some time, discover, that, in addition to all the properties which he had hitherto observed in it, it possessed the unexpected property of producing, in the course of its movement, another watch like itself; (the thing is conceivable;) that it contained within it a mechanism, a system of parts, a mould for instance, or a complex adjustment of laths, files, and other tools, evidently and separately calculated for this purpose; let us enquire, what effect ought such a discovery to have upon his former conclusion?

Littérature jeunesse: roman fantastique T. 1 Susannah Simon est " the mediator ". Elle fait le lien entre les morts et les vivants. Pas de répit pour elle : les fantômes exigent qu'elle achève ce qu'ils n'ont pas eu le temps d'accomplir sur Terre. Mais quand on vient d'emménager sous le soleil de Californie, qu'on est une fille et qu'on a seize ans, on préfère se balader dans les centres commerciaux plutôt que dans les cimetières... et mater les surfeurs plutôt que de s'occuper de visiteurs ectoplasmiques ! Hélas, dès son arrivée dans son nouveau lycée, Susannah comprend que sa vie ne va pas être aussi simple. Le fantôme d'une jeune lycéenne a décidé de se venger. Or, la jeune fille se trouve sur sa route...
