Scissors
Roberts' first book, first published by Heinemann in 1923. The life of John Narcissus (hence the "Scissors") Dean, beginning in Turkey, growing up in England, and ending in the Turkey of the Great War.
Victoria Four-Thirty
This is an interesting book containing stories about 13 different people of a variety of nationalities, 12 of whom take the same trip on the Orient Express (it leaves Victoria Station in London at 4:30). The book is divided into two parts, the first giving the background of each person, chapter by chapter, the second (10 chapters) describing what happens on the trip as far as Athens and how some of the travellers' paths cross on the trip.
