When Indiana's Governor Morton led the state into the Civil War, the Sisters of Providence stepped up to take over daily control of the City Hospital. Caring tenderly for Union and Confederate soldiers alike, Sister Athanasius Fogarty and her team of sisters nursed hundreds of men through illness and injury. "Lest We Forget" also includes several news articles and letters from the time.
